Chile
Birdwatching
The "El Yeso" Reservoir is located in the Maipo Canyon, in the middle of the Chilean Andes mountain range, only 90 kms from Santiago, at an altitude of 3.000 mt. Spring is the best time to admire the flowering Cordillera but in any time of the year the mountains are shining in millions of colors, due to the enormous mineral content of the Andean rocks.
This birding trip has been designed to match the require
ments of demanding clients, short on time, and willing to have an extraordinary experience in the Andes Mountains. Longer birding itineraries are available under request.

ITINERARY
Pick you up at 7:30 am to make a full day trip up to El Yeso Reservoir area (7.000-8.000 ft).
On the way up we will stop in different places, to watch Chile´s endemic birds, like the Chilean Mockingbird and the Dusky-tailed Canastero, in their typical Chaparral environment. Getting into the El Yeso area, we'll sight the exclusive and rarely seen Shorebird, living in the Andean bogs, the Diademed Sandpiper Plover. Other rarely seen species you will have the opportunity to sight are the Mountain Caracara, the Rufous-banded.
Miner, the ochre-napped Ground Tyrant, the Great Shrike-Tyrant, the Plumbeous Sierra Finch, the yellow-rumped Siskin and the Mountain Parakeet. One of our bird-exploration's highlights is the Crag Chilia, endemic of Chile.
At 4:00 pm. start driving back to Santiago. Arrive at the hotel around 7:00 pm. (Box Lunch included).
Note: This trip is available only as a private departure, depending on the weather conditions and trip leader availability
